Narendra Modi lays foundation stone of various healthcare facilities worth 1275 crore rupees in Ahmedabad
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said if the heart and intention of the government are not filled with concern for the people’s problems, then the creation of suitable health infrastructure is not possible. After dedicating and laying the foundation stone of various healthcare facilities worth 1275 crore rupees in Civil Hospital Asarwa in Ahmedabad the Prime Minister pointed out that when efforts are made wholeheartedly with a holistic approach, their results are equally multifaceted and this is the success mantra of Gujarat.
Regarding the new Civil Hospital Asarwa, the Prime Minister said this will be the first government hospital in the country where state-of-the-art technology like Cyber-Knife will be available. Describing rapid development of health sector in the state, the Prime Minister said, the number of medical colleges and beds in government hospitals has increased four times in Gujarat in the last 25 years. The total beds in government hospitals were around 15 thousand 20-25 years before, which has now increased to 60 thousand.
He said the medical colleges were also increased from 9 to 36 today. Likewise, the total number of undergraduate medical seats in the state which was around 2000 twenty years before is 8500 today.
PM said advanced medical technologies and better medical infrastructure are now available in Gujarat which will benefit the poor of the state. Mr Modi said the immense potential of Gujarat’s medical tourism sector will also be enhanced with the development of top medical facilities in the state. He informed that in the last 8 years, the Central Government has presented 22 new AIIMS in different parts of the country and Gujarat has also benefited from this.
PM dedicated the new and improved facilities for cardiac care and a new hostel building in the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre; new hospital building of the Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre and a new building of the Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute. Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of shelter homes to accommodate families of poor patients. PM also launched 188 dialysis centres at various places in the state and daycare Chemotherapy centres at 22 places across the state.
